SNOW SNOW SNOW

Well we finally have snow...that has lasted for more then a few hours and is actually enough to play in. The routine of having the cars down at the market and the truck with the chains on it to get us from the market to the house has began. Norm had one of his fellow co workers pick him up this morning. So I didn't have to drive him in. He hates the snow...or driving in it. I love the snow and would love to get a nice blizzard and have to stay in for a few days. I get alot more down around the house when I am forced to stay home and events get canceled because of the snow. This area doesn't get too much snowfall and they simply to not have enough equipment to keep up with it.

Last night, about midnight I put on my jacket and went outside. It was so beautiful. Large snowflakes against a black sky. The quiet of sounds of the mountains. The undisturbed snow covering the road. I should have tried to take pictures last night.

Here are some pictures from this afternoon. The snow is kinda of deceiving. Last night we had the soft big fluffy flakes and had 4 inches. Today we have had the mix...from soft snow to wet snow. The wet snow arrived first, so it made the snow sink down, to the heavy wet look.

Well we haven't made much progress on this front. It seems to go in spurts of when I have the time to get in there and work on it. Here are the pictures from the girls bedroom. The smaller windows had the foot of their bed against it, so we were not seeing the water/mildew/mold stuff happening. The other shows the flooring by the sliding glass door. All but two of the windows in that this house are the old single pane aluminum. So for now the girls have wood sub flooring. We did tilex all the mold and mildew. I thing we will look into getting some dehumidifier's to see it that helps with the moisture issues.

Hello....week of Jan 13th

Well a lot has happened this past week. Kodie had her annual check up and her growth has slowed and she has now dropped in the curve. She has never been in the percentile thing, but has for the most part followed the curve. So there were several tests ran, we are waiting all the results. The one result that did come back was her thyroid and it was normal. She is also being referred to an endocrinologist, whom we will see in April. It is looking as though she will have to go on Human Growth Hormones, to aid in her growth and muscle development.

On the remodel front. The new sheet rock is all in place. The new window was picked up Saturday.
We started in on the girls bedroom, pulled all the carpet. The sliding glass door started leaking and since it was hidden by the bed, we didn't spot it early. We had planned on putting new flooring in, so I took advantage of this weekend to get the carpet out. Now we are glad we did. We had hoped to replace that door next year, but I guess we will do it now. They also have two smaller windows and we are going to remove them and just replace them with walls. They are on the same wall/corner area as the sliding glass door. We will replace it with a porch style door or a french doors we haven't decided yet.

It is late and we have an early day tomorrow. I will post pictures later.

Angel Boy Art

I know we have this linked but I thought I should share just what this is.
It is a non-profit foundation that hosts a website. On this website Special Needs Children, like Kodie, can display and auction their art work. As most who know Kodie, she has a passion and talent to draw. This is now allowing us to start a savings acct for Kodie. We hope to use the funds for Equine Therapy. Then also to begin building a savings acct, that will someday become a special needs trust account. You see as Kodie becomes an adult, she will qualify for SSI and other types of benefits and programs. The one thing that income can't be used for, is the fun things we like to do, go bowling, to the movies, take a vacation, etc. This trust will allow Kodie to still do those things and the money in that trust will not count against her as income.

new sub floor and wall

Look no hole, and no mold on those wall studs.
Sheetrock will go up on later this week.
I really need a break in the wet weather, so I can go and get the sheet rock.

Tear out done...rebuild has began

These are views from the living room, as we had to remove all the sheet rock on this wall.
So the old sub floor is gone, the mold covered wall studs are gone.
All is replaced with nice new stuff..and the rebuilding is beginning.
It has been fun to look at new fixtures and plan a new layout.
This bathroom had a closet in it. We went ahead a ripped that all out.
So it is one big room. We will be placing along that wall and nice makeup vanity with mirror, shelf, and drawers. We are adding another outlet and light.
It will be the ultimate teen girl bathroom. I would not have wanted one when I was a teen, but Mychal...she will love it. She still wants it pink and with bunnies and butterflies. I told her when we get to the point of really finishing it..she will not be allowed in as it will be a surprise. We may have to send her to a friends for the weekend.

Kodie new accidental hair cut

Well today I decided to trim up Kodie's hair. It is way easier to keep it short. She does enjoy the good old flowbee haircut system. I think she likes the feeling of the vacuum on her head.

I had finished that part of the trim and needed to use the electric clippers around the ears. Well as I was trimming up behind her ear... she jerked towards me and up side of the head the clippers went. Now I did have those plastic guides, so we still had 1 inch of hair left.

So I worked more with flowbee to shorten it and then trimmed up the back and sides.
