Welcome 2008

Wow....I thought we would start off the new year with a blog.
This way people can keep up on the happenings at the smith homestead.
We are ending the year and actually starting the year with remodeling.
We hope to have all the bathrooms remodeled and updated by spring.
The first bathroom we are conquering is the girls half bath.
At this point it is almost gutted, what started out as simple updating has turned into large project, based on previous water damage that was not repaired by previous owners. Like ripping up the carpet only to discover that that there was damage to the subfloor covered up by loose piece of plywood. Then the was the pulling off the molding to find the sheetrock behind crumbled away or came off with the molding. Then there was the mold/mildew growth that found us ripping out sheet rock. Then we had the find of the day..the skeleton of a mouse. Zeke found that to be the coolest thing so far. Lucky for me Justin still has his nice respirator mask, from when he went on his missions trip for Katrina.

Wishing everyone a wonderful 2008!!!!
